Monthly Connectome Report, Aug/Sep 2018
Through this summer, the Connectome team ran like a horse around the world. The main point was “Fly abroad”. Ocean protocol, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, 8BTC etc… exchanging opinions with those honourable companies or academic institutions was essential for our next step improvement.
The following shows what we did in August and September 2018, so let’s go back in time…
8/6 Meeting Ocean protocol
We met with Ocean Protocol and discussed the development of our Virtual Human Agent (VHA), one of the biggest projects in Connectome. They also suggested collaborating in the field of data feeding systems. This was a big step for moving forward!
8/9 visiting National Taiwan University of Science and Technology
On August 9th, we were invited by the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology to participate in their Blockchain workshop, where Taiwanese government officials, university professors, public companies, and others shared information on Blockchain technology.
We presented the Virtual Human Agent and exchanged various opinions on it, which helped us come closer to VHA’s spread to Taiwan.
5 days Workshop at the University of Rwanda
On 2018 August 13–17 we held the workshop “Blockchain EXE x Rwanda University.”
Lectures by six famous Blockchain companies including “ConsenSys” and “Ocean Protocol,” support from world banks, participation by Rwandan government officials, and various other forms of participation led to a productive and exciting program.
The workshop was a huge success!
Singapore Meetup #1
On August 16th, we made our first appearance in Singapore. In addition to Connectome, China’s largest bike-sharing company Ofo and their partner GSE Network, Singapore’s branch of Ocean Protocol, and Japan’s Hitachi all participated.
Here in Singapore, where the development of smart cities continues to move forward, there was a real feeling of future collaboration and partnership.

Singapore Meetup #2
We held our second Meetup in Singapore on August 21st.
AI Blockchain companies gathered together and had a lively discussion on just how clever AI is becoming around the world.

8/25 Hong Kong Meetup
August 25th was our first ever Meetup in Hong Kong. The local participants were especially enthusiastic, even staying to ask several questions after the event had finished.
Discussing with SingularityNET in Hong Kong
We set up a base in Hong Kong on August 28th and met with SingularityNET to discuss practical applications of AI.
8/30 Connectome AI Meetup #1
At the end of the summer… we finally came to hold our Meetup for the first time!
Connectome Meetup is a community for expanding professional skills. This time we held a discussion on “AI’s Deep Learning.”
Many engineers gathered together and made it a fun, lively event.
Our plans for next time include improving various technical skills in fields such as AI, video games, AR, and Blockchain.

9/1 Establishment of the Connectome Singapore office!
In order to expand our business in Singapore, we opened up a local office. We will continue our development of smart spaces through collaboration with various companies.
We will also continue to work on our community activities in Singapore.
9/15 Blockchain EXE in Shanghai
China, the pioneering country of the cashless society has been developing crypto technologies at an incredible speed. The biggest blockchain community in Japan “Blockchain EXE” finally landed in Shanghai to promote our protocol “Connectome”. The cashless society may be the first step in creating smart spaces, but there are so many tasks to deal with, especially the privacy problem. We exchanged our thoughts with the famous Chinese media 8BTC to find a more convenient and no-obstacle society.

9/27 Connectome Meetup#2
AI engineers or beginners might have such troubles as, “I did so much research but don’t know how I can turn it into a business…” or “It is very hard to understand the algorithms all by myself… ” But don’t worry! There is a solution: Come to Connectome Meetup and find just the thing you want! This meetup series has been held monthly so far, and this time we invited the guest speaker Mr Vijay Daultani from Rakuten Deep Learning Researcher. He mentioned about how beautiful the META learning algorithm is, and participants joined the presentation actively by asking questions.
In addition, Dr Priya Kansal from Connectome staff, and also an AI researcher at Couger inc., explained about Loss Function.
